Experience:

I have worked in the meat and poultry industry for over 45 years, starting in a butchers shop at the age of 13 as a ‘Saturday boy’ joining Swift and company at the age of 16 and working in slaughtering and cutting of red meat before moving into pork and sausage production, during this time I spent 4 years at college where I achieved Graduate membership of the Institute of Meat. Moved on to the role of technical manager at a cooked poultry meat producer in the UK, setting up and managing the technical function and sourcing approved suppliers for raw material.

Joined an importer/trader in the mid 1990’s as technical manager, setting up and managing all their technical function, established and developed the product portfolio for the importation of a large range of cooked ready to eat and ready to heat poultry products from the far east and South America, controlling the day to day technical requirements of the business along with factory audits, trouble shooting, NPD and customer facing technical work. Left to join another importer/trader in 2007 where I was technical manager and covered supply chain management in Thailand/Brazil/China and Europe including auditing & customer facing technical work.

I left in 2013 to set up my own consultancy business.

In addition to a Graduate member of the Institute of meat I am a qualified poultry welfare officer and a qualified lead auditor for the BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 9.
